WIRED World Fair to Showcase AI and Robotics in Miami

WIRED is launching the WIRED World Fair on November 4 at the Sacred Space in Miami's Wynwood district. The one-day event aims to revive the historical tradition of World's Fairs by offering attendees a hands-on look at emerging technologies, scientific breakthroughs, and cultural shifts. The programming spans artificial intelligence, biotechnology, space exploration, and robotics, bringing digital concepts into physical experiences.

For AI practitioners and technology developers, the event features several notable demonstrations and speakers. Clément Delangue, the cofounder and CEO of Hugging Face, will discuss the ownership of AI's future. Attendees can also interact with Refik Anadol’s Large Nature Model, which is the first open-access generative AI model dedicated entirely to nature. Additionally, Unitree Robotics will have its G1 humanoid robot roaming the venue, giving developers a close-up look at state-of-the-art physical AI in action.

The fair will also showcase immersive installations and scientific research. Marina Abramović will present Slow Walking, a performance featuring a lifelike digital twin avatar of the artist. Visitors can experience NASA XOSS, a hyperrealistic training software used by astronauts preparing for lunar and Martian environments. On the biological front, Ben Lamm of Colossal Biosciences will discuss de-extinction, while researcher Denise Herzing of the Wild Dolphin Project will share insights on decoding dolphin communication.

The intersection of technology, culture, and business will be explored through various panels and screenings. The event will feature a screening of director Alex Gibney's highly anticipated documentary on Elon Musk, followed by a Q&A session. Ben Collins, CEO of The Onion, will speak on the modern state of satire, and Reddit cofounder Alexis Ohanian will analyze the future direction of venture capital. These discussions offer tech practitioners valuable context on how regulatory, financial, and cultural forces are shaping the ecosystem in which they build.
